WeoGeo Library Appliance

Thank you for your interest in the WeoGeo Library Appliance. The WeoGeo Library Appliance is in essence a card catalog library system for your geospatial data. It will greatly aid in the organization, customization, and delivery of your data to your clients.

Overview

Since the WeoGeo Library Appliance is intended to provide an in-house solution for your data needs, we require that you provide the mountable storage solution of a sufficient size to handle the raw data sets you want discovered via the system. The library system itself is not limited to the total volume of the raw products you want to deliver. However, in its current configuration, it is limited to approximately 100,000 entries. If you require, or wish to host more data sets, please contact us so we may discuss customized solutions.

Requirements

Please take a look at our Library Appliance Questionnaire to determine if your organization meets all the requirements needed to use our Appliance. All of the questions are mandatory. Please contact us if you need further clarifications.

Getting Started with WeoGeo Library Appliance

Set-up Instructions

The WeoGeo Library Appliance is delivered ready to go. It is pre-configured with settings from the Library Appliance Questionnaire. Nothing more is needed then mounting it in the rack, plugging in the Ethernet cables, and powering it up.

Administering WeoGeo Library Appliance

If you are the administrator, your WeoGeo Library Appliance should be ready for use from the moment it is plugged in. To begin, log in to your Library Appliance with the appropriate credentials (these will be emailed to you directly). Next, update your profile by clicking on the Edit Profile link highlighted by the red box in figure 1. All fields except Address 2 and Primary Phone are mandatory. The email address should be the one used for administering the Library Appliance.

Next, access the Admin interface by clicking on the Admin button (green button in the center bottom of the Figure 2).

Your Admin interface is shown in Figure 3. Let’s take a look at the features of this interface.

  1. Current Listings: Arrow 1 lists all the datasets available on your Appliance. You can edit a dataset by clicking on its entry. This area will appear blank if no listings are available.
  2. New Listing: The New Listing button (arrow 2) takes you to the gWeoApp download page. gWeoApp is a simple client-side utility provided free-of-charge to WeoGeo Market and Library users. It is designed to assist you with uploading data or downloading orders.
  3. Users and Access Controls: Since WeoGeo Library Appliance is intended to provide a controlled access environment to your geodata, regular users cannot use the Library Appliance unless they are explicitly granted access into the system. As the administrator of your Library Appliance, you are responsible for inviting users by clicking on the Users button (arrow 3) and setting up access controls by clicking on Access button (arrow 4).

Using WeoGeo Library Appliance

Only the administrator has privileges to upload, edit and control access to data on the WeoGeo Library Appliance. In addition, the administrator can list data from the Library Appliance for sale on WeoGeo Market.

  4. Sell data on WeoGeo Market: Your WeoGeo Library Appliance purchase comes with an account on WeoGeo Market. Should you decide to offer your listing for sale, all that is required is a single-click action. Please contact us for further details.

Regular users can begin using your Appliance once they have confirmed the invitation and finished the rest of the registration set-up. A regular user’s searching and ordering experience is subject to the restrictions set-up via the access controls by the administrator. More information is given below.
