GWeoApp >> GWeoApp: New Listing Wizard

Note: This is the complete documentation for gWeoApp's New Listing Wizard. A user friendly tutorial that also addresses this subject can be found here.

Getting data onto the WeoGeo Market or Library is a breeze with the New Listing Wizard. The Wizard is an interactive tool designed to ask a series of questions step-by-step to help you describe your listing. Drop-down menus and automatic validation ensure that the WeoFile that is created conforms to our controlled vocabulary and standards. The New Listing Wizard also provides a preview of your dataset prior to upload.

The New Listing Wizard is fully described on the WeoGeo Wiki and subpages are available for each of the individual questions and elements.

Invoking the New Listing Wizard

On Windows XP/Vista, go to Start -> All Programs -> Weoapp -> gWeoApp. Click on the New Listing button or CTRL + N on the gWeoApp to invoke the Wizard.

Uploading to WeoGeo

The Wizard is designed to ask a minimal set of questions needed to describe the dataset. The process begins with a question about the type of upload and destination Library address of the upload and verification of the user-credentials. Should the verification process succeed, the user is allowed to proceed with the rest of the process. The answer to each question prompts the next set of questions asked. For example, a dataset whose projection information cannot automatically be determined will generate a set of questions to manually capture this information. Detailed information is covered in the various sub-pages listed in the next section.

Once the questionnaire is complete, the gWeoApp generates a WeoFile on your behalf, processes the information, and generates a preview of the listing. These are displayed together in the gWeoApp editor, where the Provider can review the listing, edit values supplied in the New Listing Wizard and set customization options. The WeoFile can also be view using the XML editor.

Once satisfied with how your listing look, all you need to do is hit upload to publish it to your Library.
